Selecting a Great Home Theater Speaker System

!: Selecting a Great Home Theater Speaker System

Around the world, home theaters are becoming widely used in today's homes. Providing a great setting for family gatherings to view movies, television programs and home videos, these are not standard living rooms. Home theaters are specially designed to replicate the complete movie theater experience in the privacy of the home. As it has been with audiophiles since the advent of stereo sound, some enthusiasts go to great lengths to ensure that every component of their home theater system is of the highest quality.

Needless to say, not a lot of people can find the funds to purchase only high end components. The good news is, there are a few places where corners can be cut without having a serious impact on the quality of the experience. The choice of speakers is one area where one can maintain a reasonable budget while still maintaining very good quality. Looking for the best choice while sticking to a limited budget can be a bit challenging, especially taking into account the number of speakers that are now available.

When looking for home theater speakers, it's wise to keep the following points in mind:

Establish an affordable budget. Unless you have limitless financial resources (what a wonderful concept), setting a spending budget is the primary determination you will have to make. Seeing that home theater systems can run into many thousands of dollars, keeping in mind an approximate amount you can afford for the speaker system will be quite useful in narrowing the field of potential products.

Determine, and then make note of, the essential features for your home theater speaker system. There are so many options and specific functions available that you can easily become bogged down by the choices. As an example, do your speakers have to be wireless, or can wires be run without a problem in your room? Will the speakers have to be wall mounted, ceiling mounted or floor mounted? Set back into the ceiling or wall - or are bookshelf type speakers okay?

Investigate the various makes and models. With your preferences for home theater speakers clearly stated and a price range established, it's time to begin looking into specific makes and models. Begin identifying those that are priced within your budget. Then dispose of those that do not match the features you've identified. After you have narrowed down the choices to a handful, it's time to begin evaluating each possible speaker system.

Consider what consumer magazines have published about specific makes and models. Look over customer ratings that have been posted on the web. Some of the essential factors to consider are sound quality, details of warranties and general reliability. A 0 set of home theater speakers might just happen to have identical, or even better, customer reviews than that fancy 00 speaker system.

Home theater speakers can be ordered individually or in complete system sets. A complete system should incorporate at least five separate speakers to produce a surround sound effect. Check to make certain that the quantity, and necessary types of input connections are available for your electronic components.

Shopping for home theater speakers can be somewhat confusing, but it does not have to be something to get stressed out over. Do some basic research beforehand and the process really should be a good experience.

Home Theater Design - Plan the Theater You've Always Wanted

!: Home Theater Design - Plan the Theater You've Always Wanted

So, you've been bitten by the home theater bug, eh? You want to design your own home theater but are unsure about how to do it? Here are some quick tips on how to design you very own home theater. First, there are some basic questions you must answer.

1)How much space are you working with, or, alternatively, if you are building a room from scratch, how many people would you like to seat in your home theater? If using an existing room, what shape is it. Is it a closed room or is it open to the rest of the home? Where is the door in relation to the rest of the room? Would you like true theater type seating or will you be using sofas and love seats?

2)Will it be a multi-use room or a dedicated theater? If you are using the room for multiple purposes, you will need to be more careful about hiding components to integrate the theater with the rest of the room. Layout will become extremely important so you can maximize the use of the available space.

3)What is your home theater budget?- If you are fairly new to the game, you may not have a good idea about a realistic budget, so do some research on material and equipment costs.

4)What kind of décor are you trying to achieve. Do you want an art deco theater straight out of the 1930's? How about something a little more contemporary? Do you have a design theme in your home you are trying to match? Have you seen pictures of home theaters that you liked? Are you working with an interior designer in the rest of your home, or did you use the services of an interior designer to achieve the décor you have throughout your home?

5)What is your favorite type of program material? Do you watch mostly DVD movies or are going to be using your home theater mostly for watching sports? Will you watch a lot of regular or HDTV in your theater? Do you even have a good HDTV feed into your home theater? Would you really enjoy watching concert DVDs or music videos? If this theater will be used primarily for watching movies, what is your favorite type, or genre, of motion picture? Large production, action movies have a different set of demands on your home theater system than do romance films, for example.

6)Do you have existing audio / video equipment you'd like to incorporate into your new theater? Should you? Some of your existing gear may work great or maybe you need to replace a piece or two. Maybe you're building everything from the beginning and need all new gear.

7)Are you going to be doing the installation yourself or contracting with a professional installer? What is your level of expertise in the building trades? Are you a fast learner?

8)Will this theater be used mostly by you, or will family and friends be using this room even when you're not around? If many people will be using the theater, consider investing in a really good remote control, and some programming to make everything really easy to use. You'll thank yourself later, and so will everyone else. It's very nice when the remote control is so simple that you can watch whatever you want by pressing one intuitively labeled button or icon that makes everything happen. With touch screen remote controls, the screen will change depending to reflect the appropriate source or task, so you have only the buttons displayed that you need, not a confusing jumble of buttons to control every conceivable function of your theater.

9)What are your performance requirements? Do you have any?Is it important that your pant legs flap in the breeze created by your subwoofers (use at least two)? Would it be really nice to understand every, single word of dialog? How about the video? Are you extremely picky when it comes to picture quality? Are you a trained viewer that is familiar with what video anomalies look like? Do you want the largest possible video image?

10)Will your theater be integrated with your house music system if you now, or will, have one, or will it be completely stand alone?

If you can answer these questions, you have begun the design process for your home theater. It's important to know the answers so that you can formulate your design targets. A well designed home theater will bring countless hours of enjoyment to you, your family and friends. The more information you have, the happier you'll be with the finished product.

Custom Home Theater Design - Save Money By Customizing

!: Custom Home Theater Design - Save Money By Customizing

Before we dig into details what exactly goes into creating custom home theatre design, let's first try to define what exactly is "custom". To put it simply, custom means "customizable". In this the homeowner (you) has complete control and freedom in choosing various aspects of a home theatre design.

Once you know what are the components of a home theatre system can be customizable the they you want them, it will be easy to pick up accessories required to shape your home theatre system

1) Home theatre room furniture - Here you have a wide variety of options. But you will have to take into consideration the volume of the home theatre room itself, before you make the final decisions

2) Home theatre room design theme - Again you can have a simple room with some basic and bare necessary acoustical treatment to save the cost or on the other side you can go with a fully loaded space like theme, if that is what you are looking for.

3) Home theatre system equipment - This includes the audio, video and playback equipment. The consumer electronics market is full with all top quality home theater equipment with a wide variety price range.

So you can easily pick up the right accessories and come up with your own custom home theatre design. It sounds easy for reading this but when you actually start to make a list of all the big and small things in your home theatre room, you will face some major problems, such as costs, quality, installation, professional fees etc.

That's why it is necessary to carry out some market research before you even start about creating such a list of things you are looking for. This is because you are dealing with customized design solution. It is the one that's only for you. You are not going to go out and buy whatever is ready to sell in the market. You will add your imagination and personal touch to it. To do this it is a good idea to first study what is available in the market. And believe me if you do it sincerely, you will end up saving a lot of money and time and at the same time get that dream home theatre design system installed in your home.

Home Theater Wiring - Uses and allowances of HDMI Multimedia Interface Cables

!: Home Theater Wiring - Uses and allowances of HDMI Multimedia Interface Cables

The HDMI 1.3 cable is the newest version of the multiple multimedia interface cable that can be used to connect a number of electronic devices into the same interface. Compared to past models of the cable, which have changed relatively little compared to their predecessors, the 1.3 version has an array of new features that makes it the most adaptable of the bunch. But just what are the real benefits of using the HDMI 1.3 cable compared to the others? You would be surprised, I'm sure, to learn of all the ways that this new version will expand your multimedia interface and make it easier for you to combine your electronics.

To understand how this HDMI cable is going to help you, let's first talk about Digital Visual Interface (DVI). This is an uncompressed digital connection scheme that was actually originally developed for a network of personal computers. It was to be a low-cost, high-bandwidth digital connection between PCs and digital monitors, so that you could view your work on the best of television sets. Now it is the most widely used digital display interface in the computer industry. What does all this mean for your home theater system? Well, it means that you can include the DVI with it, especially by using DVI connections on projectors, monitors, and advanced DVD players, such as the new HD-DVD players.

HDMI cables come in when you want to hook up a High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) system with that of a DVI. HDMI cables can carry video, audio, and inter-component operability commands (remote control signals) on one digital interface that has been built on the success of DVI. When a device is connected to an HDMI 1.3 cable, it gets all the video performance that DVI has to offer, up to and including 1080p.

Compared with your standard A/V interfaces, HDMI interfaces actually have a number of important advantages. The uncompressed format delivers digital HD video, multi-channel audio, and control signals between various HDMI and/or DVI components. By combining all this power into one cable, HDMI offers a convenient connection alternative to the maze of existing analog A/V cables that plague your home theater.

The HDMI 1.3 cable actually offers six distinct benefits to the HDMI world. The most obvious is the higher data transfer speed that it offers. It also supports a special format type known as Deep Color. This is the brand new color space used in video electronics. It can support 1.8 times as many colors as RGB (Red, green, blue color schemes), which helps it to show all the various colors found in nature. Incorporating automatic audio syncing capability is also a new feature for the HDMI 1.3 cable. This system will automatically adjust for the difference in electronic latency between the processing circuits of the sound and the image. This discrepancy usually comes up as a slight delay in sound and image correspondence, but it will be unnoticeable thanks to this new cable version.

In addition to all of this, the HDMI 1.3 supports the output of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-FD Master Audio streams. These are the lossless audio codec formats used on HD DVDs and Blue-ray discs. The cable is only useful here if the DVD player can't send information in an uncompressed format, though. The HDMI 1.3 can be used with a number of products, including the latest DVD players and the Playstation 3, which you may be interested to know, is the first product on the market that uses a HDMI 1.3 wire connection.

So if you're looking for the best connectivity possible, look into purchasing the HDMI 1.3 cable. The benefits HDMI 1.3 provides your home theater wiring set-up can't be beat, and you'll soon find yourself able to transfer data like never before.

Home Theatre Speakers - A Simple Buying Technique

!: Home Theatre Speakers - A Simple Buying Technique

Home Theatre Speakers come in a wide variety of choices, so wide in fact that making a choice can be very difficult. Unless you have spent many long hours reading about the different options for creating a home cinema system, you probably won't have a clue where to begin.

Home theater speakers are usually bought as part of a packaged home cinema system. Sometimes however you may decide to build that system by buying the separate components. This can be a great way to save money and improve the quality of the system within your budget. As you start your research you will no doubt be overwhelmed by the array of choices to make. There is a simple method you can use to buy the best quality within your budget.

This method is for buying the best home theatre speakers for your budget. You can use this method to research many other components such as home theatre systems or home theatre projectors, wireless speakers and surround sound systems. In fact it can help you to buy many different products but is especially suited to the home electronics market.

Where would you find one of the largest retailers of home electronics, in fact by far the largest online retailer - Amazon of course. We can use Amazon to do our research very easily, and you will probably end up buying from them in the end. Here is the theory.

Go to the site and enter the search term for "home theater speakers". When the results come up look to the top right hand corner where there is a drop down box that says "sort by". You can choose relevance, best selling, price and average customer review. We can use these filters to refine our search. Also look to the left hand panel of the site, for more options such as by brand, price range, new or used, customer review ranges and more.

Once I have refined my search by relevance and price I will look at the customer reviews and best selling results. If an item is in Amazon's best selling range it is good. Poor products simply do not become best sellers in their categories in Amazon. This is in part because of the customer review system that is used by savvy buyers.

Think about the review system. Have a read through some of the reviews for speaker systems and see how detailed and well written some of them are. You can learn a lot, quickly by reading a few reviews. For someone to take the time and effort to write a review about the speakers they have bought - they need to have some form of motivation. Either the product is great or it is poor. People simply don't bother about just OK. Now, added to that, if a product has a lot of excellent reviews on Amazon, this is another strong indicator of it's quality and value.

So to sum up, we want to refine the search results to find the best selling product with excellent reviews and a lot of them. This is our golden target but of course our personal preferences count.

This system is great for narrowing down your search and for finding out about specific products and what buyers think of them. Use the available resources and you will be on your way to finding the perfect home theatre speakers.

Home Theater, How to Mount a TV on a Wall

With all of the great technology available, you can have movie night in your home instead of trooping off to the theater and paying ten bucks a shot for seat plus a lot more for that popcorn and soda. If you are ready to rev up your home's entertainment value, you are probably already in the market for or have purchased a home theater system. In order to derive the most benefit from your purchase, you'll need to know some basics about home theater. How to Mount a TV on a wall is just one.

Mounting a flat screen television on your wall is not anything like hanging a painting. It is so much more than driving in a nail or two, and making sure the thing is level. First, before you begin the actual mounting, you need to determine where on the wall the screen should be placed in order to provide optimum viewing from all parts of the room. Then, you need to ensure that you have access to the electronics and/or cable or satellite input. There will be a DVD, a DVR, a game system console and other peripherals, including the home theater sound system to provide space for, too. Location is step one.

Home Theater

Step two is ensuring that you have the proper hardware to mount the unit. They may not be as heavy as they once were, but they are pricey enough you want to ensure they don't topple off. So, invest in a good hardware kit and follow the manufacturer's instructions to the letter.

Build Your Home Theater - Blueprints

In my opinion, the most important thing that you need to do before the construction phase of your home theater is to draw out your idea. Just as a worker needs a blueprint to construct a building, you also need some sort of drawing to follow when you actually get to the construction phase of your home theater. You need to do this for a number of very good reasons:

If you have people helping you during construction, it will give them a better understanding of what you're trying to do. It will be easier for you to make a shopping list of construction materials you need. You can experiment with different ideas regarding seating arrangements, Speaker placement and location of equipment before you start physically moving things around. It will stop you from constantly changing your mind during construction because you didn't have a plan. Most importantly... once it is on paper, you won't forget the "look and feel" ideas you initially had. Construction can take months to complete and you're going to forget all those great ideas.

Home Theater

Now don't get me wrong, you don't need to get out a drafting table and that funky blue paper, but I do know some people who purchased architect software to design their home theater blueprints. All you really need is a piece of paper or notebook to keep track of all your drawings and ideas.

Build Your Home Theater - Blueprints

Bring your movies to life with this 3D Blu-ray Disc home theater system, which features pristine 5.1-channel surround sound and wireless streaming capabilities. Experience full HD 1080p and powerful 5.1-channel HD surround sound, and enjoy expanded entertainment options as you wirelessly stream Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Slacker, YouTube and more.

Start by drawing the basic shape of your room and scribble in all the things that are already there. I love dealing with a room that is completely empty because all I have to pay attention to are the electrical outlets, lighting fixtures, and any objects that cannot be moved.

The TV, receivers, Speakers, subwoofers and amplifiers are all added next... you don't need to draw it perfectly to scale, but at this point you'll get a better idea of where everything will be in relation to the entrance and your proposed seating arrangement. Try to be realistic here and keep things in perspective; don't draw your Speakers larger than your TV if they aren't.

One of the most important things you must detail in your blueprint is the location of your electronics and all the wiring (Speaker/electrical/cable/satellite) that will be needed to connect everything together. If you decide to put your equipment in the back of the theater, you MUST detail how the wiring will travel through the walls to your speakers and to the TV in the front of the room. This will save you headaches when you start running wire.

Once you have everything drawn in, you should finish your blueprint by asking yourself the following questions:

Do I need to remove, move, or add any electrical outlets? Is the existing lighting conducive to a theater design? Do I need to add any lighting or put lighting on separate switches? Are the seats arranged so I can walk safely around them when the lights are off? Do I need to construct more than 1 row of seating? Are my electronics in a location where I can easily access them during a movie in the dark? Do I need sound insulation in the walls/ceiling?

Remember that you are going to run into a lot of interesting problems during the construction phase, and no blueprint will ever foresee all those situations. Don't fool yourself into thinking that you've thought of everything, but be rest assured that while you were drawing your blueprint, you thought of things that could have gone wrong and worked around them already.

Home Theater Design Concepts

One of the most overlooked features of a quality Home Theater design are the dimensions of the room. The size and shape of a Home Theater Room can significantly affect the quality of your Home Theater system. The dimensions of your room will determine how the sound will interact with the interior walls, especially the low frequency (bass) sound waves.

The ideal shape for a room is rectangular. However, if possible stay away from rooms where the length and width are multiples of the height. For example, if the height of your Home Theater is 8', the length and width should not be 16' x 24' (both multiples of 8'). Try altering at least one dimension by a foot or so. A square shaped room is the least acoustic friendly shape that you can have.

Home Theater

If you have invested a considerable amount of money in your A/V system, the weakest link in your Home Theater is usually the inherent acoustic properties of the room. Just about any room requires some kind acoustical enhancements. In most Cases, you will be sitting more than 3' from your primary Speakers. When doing so, the majority of the sound comes to you indirectly, bounced to you from the various walls in your room, rather than directly from the primary Speakers. Therefore, the room will exaggerate some sounds and dampen other sounds.

!1: Now is the time Sony HT-SS370 Surround Sound Home Theater System, Black Order Today!

Complete your entertainment experience with 5.1 channels of high-quality surround sound and 1000 watts of power with the HT-SS370 surround sound system. Connect multiple HD devices using a single HDMI cable per device and turn this great system into your entertainment hub, plus operate all your compatible BRAVIA Sync devices using one remote control. Add optional S-AIR accessories and enjoy the convenience of wireless rear speakers or multi-room streaming.

In order to maximize your investment in your Home Theater system, you need to control how the sound waves bounce around your room. This can be accomplished by strategically hanging acoustic panels in your theater. The majority of time, you will use absorptive acoustic panels. These panels help absorb the sound waves, basically stopping them from bouncing off several walls before they reach your ears. When your Home Theater design demands a large portion of your room to be covered in panels, then you should consider installing Diffusive acoustic panels. These panels contain uneven surfaces (hidden by acoustic fabrics) which help distribute the sound wave such that they don't bounce all over the room, yet they keep the room sounding alive and vivid.

Historically, acoustic panels were not very designer friendly. Most fabrics came in dull, muted colours. Battle lines were drawn between Interior Designers and the women in the household, who were interested in creating an aesthetically pleasing Home Theater design. Their nemesis was the husband, who wanted to create an acoustically pleasing sound environment to maximize his investment in his high-end Home Theater system.

Fortunately, both parties' goals can now be met with the advent of decorative acoustic panels. These panels basically contain quality images featuring original art, movie posters, landscape images or any other type of imagery that you desire.

Several companies have introduced decorative acoustic panels to their product line, but perhaps the best equipped company is 3-D Squared. They offer over 50 customizable original designs, as well as about a dozen beautifully crafted themed murals such as New York City, Undersea and Universal. Build A Home Theater PC Or Should You?

A home theater PC, or a media-center PC, is a home Computer and A/V receiver combined for entertainment, similar to traditional home theater systems. Available are entertainment related upgrades that will make it into a home theater system, with progressive scan DVD playback, over the air HDTV support, and surround sound inputs with less fan noise. Also are the same computing functions, video abilities, and media Storage. If the home theater is already hooked up in the home, the addition of the right PC to it can add even more benefits to this investment. If not, then adding a PC to the home theater system will add benefits to an already existing set up. An example is that if we were an advanced gamer, we certainly will enjoy the gaming abilities that we have when it comes to the new addition.

Other advantages of the added home theater PC are enjoying the highly capable home theater's ability of providing excellent quality sound. With the addition of the PC, it can even act as a tuner for the music to provide an even better final result. If we were considering the addition of a TIVO or DVR style-recording device with the home theater system, then we will want to consider the use of the pc as well. It can help you to record, view, and allow us to store needed files. There are many different products that are available when we have the ability to access the home theater project through the web.

Home Theater

When shopping, we can find that there are complete systems already in place for those who are looking for a well put-together system ready-to-go. Two options are available for interested consumers: add the upgrades to an already existing PC set-up, or buy a prebuilt one. If the Computer is five years or less, simply getting different mother board will work, but otherwise - get the prebuilt home theater PC system. The purchase of a pc for your home theater system does not have to be overly expensive. The prebuilt PC set-up will work better for quality and high results but cost a whole lot more, but the rebuilt one will cost lots less, so it depends on what the priorities are. The top selling media-center PCs are Dell in the top three positions: top #1 position at 9 is the Dell Dimension? E510 (DE510SAP) PC Desktop with an Intel Pentium D 2.8 GHz, Microsoft Windows XP Media Center 2005 Edition, 512 MB, 80 GB hard drive, CD-RW/DVD-ROM. Second position is the Dell XPS? 410 (DXPS410F1) with third position being the Dell Dimension? E310 (DE310F#). With medica center PCs merging entertainment and computing into one big machine, the question being asked online is whether the TV tuner or the radio receiver is the most important. What do you think?
